Remembering Our Fallen

Since our founding almost fifty years ago, Bellevue University has been dedicated to serving those who serve our country—the men and women of the armed forces. Thousands of our students and graduates, and their family members, are currently serving or are veterans.

In an effort to honor the dedication and sacrifice of military members who gave their lives for our Country, Bellevue University became a founding sponsor of the Remembering Our Fallen war memorial in 2010. The exhibit has been traveling weekly throughout Nebraska for several years.

After realizing the impact this first photo display had on not only the families of the Fallen, but also the general public, Remembering Our Fallen exhibitions were completed in other states to remind people of the cost of freedom while acknowledging the grief of the families who lost loved ones.

Today, Remembering Our Fallen consists of exhibits in several states. Each exhibit memorializes soldiers from a particular state and includes their photos and stories such as the exhibit in California. Unlike most war memorials, however, Remembering Our Fallen exhibits are designed to travel from city to city, so that many people have the opportunity to honor the sacrifices of these brave men and women.

"We can never forget those who sacrificed everything for our freedom. Remembering Our Fallen reflects the magnitude of the sacrifices made by our Fallen and their families."

Bellevue University President and 2020 Ohtli Award Recipient

"I am a graduate student studying Cybersecurity through Bellevue University and an engineer for a cellular company in northern California.

I was in the Redding Mall (Redding, CA) and came across a very somber and humbling display that caught me off guard. It was a memorial for the fallen soldiers who hail from the northern most California counties. I was moved to tears when I saw the pictures of our finest who were taken from us far too soon. I don’t know these fine men personally but in so many ways I do, they are my neighbors, the clerks at the local stores, the peace officers who walk the beat and even my family members. I bowed my head and said a prayer and as I was walking away, I saw the dedication banner with the name of the sponsor, Bellevue University on it, needless to say, I felt even more pride as I read the eulogy for the fallen.

Thank you for showing your support for the men and women who make our world a better and safer place, especially for those who have sacrificed all."
