CREATIVITY CERTIFICATE PROGRAM
The Certificate Program in Creativity is a multidisciplinary set of courses designed to help you tap into your creative potential and shift your mindset toward new ideas and possibilities. It offers learners a deep understanding of creativity and innovation.
The courses in creativity offer a unique lens through which to creatively explore and critically examine the foundations of professional practice, drawing from multiple perspectives, including:
- the psychology of creativity
- industrial/organizational psychology
- design thinking
- studio arts
- art history and art theory
- arts administration

What you will learn:
- Learners will employ elements of design thinking and the creative process to generate ideas, prototype solutions, and collaborate with others to create innovative solutions.
- Learners will analyze strategies for building a creative culture, managing creative teams, and overcoming the barriers that often stifle innovation in the workplace.
- Learners will practice cognitive flexibility, problem-solving, and integrative creative inquiry.

Required courses (6 credit hours)
Explore design thinking, an adaptable method for crafting human-centered solutions in diverse contexts. This course introduces design principles, focusing on a human-centered approach to real-world problem-solving. Develop a strong foundation in empathy, problem identification, ideation, rapid prototyping, testing, and implementation through hands-on projects that promote social entrepreneurship and drive positive change. Cross listed as MIOP 402.
This course invites students to explore their creativity in thoughtful and unexpected ways through art studio practice and to map pathways for potential community-based, cultural partnership and programming. Students discover and cultivate their unique artistic voice in exercises and projects involving multi-disciplinary media, including but not limited to drawing, painting, sculpture, video, sound, and performance. They develop transferable skills through integrative creative and conceptual inquiry. Cross listed as AR 411.
MIOP Graduate courses: Select Two Courses (6 credit hours)
This course explores the psychology of creativity, investigating theories and research in cognitive, developmental, social, industrial/organizational, and personality psychology as they relate to creativity. Real-world applications in education, business, science, technology, and the arts will be examined. Student will gain an understanding of the psychology of creativity and its practical applications in various domains. Cross listed as MIOP 403.
This course focuses on the study of Industrial and Organizational Psychology from a practitioner perspective by covering the major applied and theoretical practices common in the field. Students explore organizational strategy of systems, performance, and human capital management.
In this course, students will analyze the workplace from a social psychology perspective. This includes employee interactions, attitudes, motivation, and other psychological processes that affect the employee environment.
This course develops deep insights into how various aspects of social capital such as reputation, leadership, organizational policies, culture, and relationships combine to maximize organizational value utilizing these intangible assets.
Art courses: Select One Course (3 credit hours)
This course is a comprehensive study of art forms, principles, methods, and histories. Students study various ways in which creative, cross-cultural exchange determines in the expression, comprehension, and appreciation of art. Students learn the ways in which it determines the direction and role of the arts in the material and digital culture of the world today. Cross listed as AR 412
This course supports the development of professional practice skills in the arts. Course material focuses on three professional pathways: art direction in art institutions and creative departments; creative community engagement; and individual and collaborative studio practice management. A central feature of the course is peer collaboration, which is designed to mirror cross-sector collaboration, partnership, and creative alliance. Cross listed as AR 491.

Admissions
Removing barriers to the education you deserve.
College is challenging, but getting in shouldn’t be. We have simplified our requirements for admission and we do not require entrance exam scores like the ACT or SAT—so you can get on track to achieving your goals. Here’s how it will go:
To be admitted to Bellevue University, provide proof of high school completion. We accept the following forms of documentation:
- Official high school transcript
- GED certificate
- Homeschool letter of completion
- Certificate demonstrating that the student has passed a state authorized examination recognized by the state in which it is awarded — equivalent to a high school diploma.
- Self-certification on application.
You’ll just need to complete the application and submit the following:
- Official high school transcripts or proof of high school completion
- If applicable, official transcripts from any college or university you previously attended
- A one-time $50 application fee
- Note:
- International students must provide a few extra documents. See international student bachelor admissions details.
- Students applying for a cohort-based major must possess an associate degree or 60 semester hours completed with a grade of "C-" or higher from an accredited institution of higher learning. If you do not meet this requirement, you can build your credits directly with Bellevue University.

You'll just need to create an account and complete a pre-application to Bellevue University through Guild. Once you receive confirmation that your pre-application to Bellevue University has been approved, you'll need to complete the required steps to get fully accepted and registered. These include:
- Submitting transcripts from past institutions
- Completing the FAFSA, per your employer's benefit requirement
If you’re transferring from another institution of higher education, you must submit an official transcript from each accredited institution you previously attended. Here are a few details to note:
- A transcript can be emailed securely to [email protected] or by mail. It is required to be sent directly from the issuing institution to Bellevue University's Office of the Registrar to be considered an official document. Please check with previous institution for available sending options.
- Applicants who submit an official transcript which reflects a two-year degree from a regionally accredited postsecondary institution are not required to show proof of high school completion.
- Transcripts must be submitted even if credits were not earned at the previous institution or if transfer credit is not granted.
