Doctoral Admissions Requirements

For the Ph.D. in Human Capital Management or Doctorate of Business Administration

Here's what we need from you to get started.

  • Possess a graduate degree from a regionally accredited college or University within the U.S. or a U.S. equivalent degree from a nationally or internationally accredited college or University outside the U.S.
  • All applicants for admission to the Bellevue University DBA or Ph.D. program are required to submit an Application for Admission accompanied by a one-time application fee of $100 for graduate programs (This fee is waived for Bellevue University Alumni).
  • Provide all official transcripts for Undergraduate and Graduate coursework.
  • Have maintained a GPA of 3.0 or better in previous graduate level coursework earned toward the graduate degree.
  • Have five years of professional experience.
  • International students who do not possess a degree from a post-secondary institution where English is the principal language of instruction, must have a minimum score of 575 on the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) or score of 5.5 on the International English Language Testing System (IELTS).
  • International credentials must be submitted to NACES (National Association of Credential Evaluation Services) (at the applicant's expense) for a formal course-by-course evaluation at www.wes.org. [alt. version: International credentials must be submitted to World Educational Services (at the applicant's expense) for a formal evaluation.] -verify accuracy.
  • GMAT or GRE – is not required.
  • Submit a resume.

Applications are accepted on a rolling basis, meaning you can apply at any time—please allow time for processing, scholarship/financial aid applications and enrollment in classes prior to your desired term start date.

Specific Admissions Requirements for the Ph.D. in Human Capital Management

An applicant holding a master’s degree with an interest in pursuing a Ph.D. through Bellevue University’s Human Capital Management Program may enroll as either a certificate of completion student or Ph.D. degree-seeking student.

  • Students can take Modules 1 and 2 which will be correlated to Certificates of Completion if the student chooses not to pursue their Ph.D.
  • Modules 1 and 2 are prerequisites for admission into Modules 3 and 4 and full Ph.D. program.

All admission materials must be submitted for review by the Program Director prior to admittance into the Ph.D. program. Please submit all materials to Graduate Admissions or to [email protected].

Specific Requirements for Doctor of Business Administration (DBA) Admissions

Prior to applying for enrollment into the DBA program, students must possess a regionally accredited MBA or equivalent master’s degree. A maximum of 36 credit hours from approved master programs may be transferrable. If the student has an MBA from an accredited college or university, it will be accepted in whole. Students entering with non-MBA master’s degrees must take equivalent courses from Bellevue University’s MBA program to make up for any core deficiencies. Only grades of 3.0 or higher will be accepted for individual transfer courses.

All admission materials must be submitted for review prior to admittance into the DBA program.

In addition:

  • Write a 1,000-word statement of interest describing the student’s interest in the DBA.
    • Why are you pursuing a DBA?
    • How has your prior education and work experience prepared you for success in the program?
  • Complete all required pre-requisite courses or their equivalents.
